The yeshiva - our home, is a unique place for young people who come from the former Soviet Union.
Although many years have passed since the fall of communism, its destructive effects are deeply embedded and are still acutely felt today. The assimilation and disconnection from any Jewish roots is still prevalent.
Our yeshiva encourages students to follow the legacy of our ancestors, which began with our forefather, Avraham.
Our home and yeshiva provides both the education and the support needed for the young men who come to Israel mostly on their own to become loyal and active members of the Jewish community.
Many of our graduates are currently building families based on the values of Torah, mitzvot and Jewish tradition.
Yeshivat Turei Zahav is located in Jerusalem, Israel.
We start with the basics. The beginner’s goal is to understand the constructs; The initial question is presented, the possible contradictions and incompatibilities are examined, a solution is worked out, and then the answer is proven. This methodology leads to an appreciation of the depth of the Talmud enabling the students to develop a taste for the sweetness of Torah.
Lessons of morals and ethics are integrated into the studies. Great emphasis is placed on character development and refinement. The goal is to build the personality with virtuous qualities.
We learn in order to do. The lessons are transferred from the realm of theory and put into practice. The Torah is a way of life that teaches us to discern right from wrong.
To understand prayer is to understand how one should relate to God. The approach is to begin by praising God, then to put forth requests, and to conclude with thanksgiving. Prayer is a means to bring the soul closer to God.
Studying the weekly Torah portion and analyzing the “stories” of our forefathers fosters a connection with them, as we extract lessons that are applicable to our daily lives.
